Ride for Sight
Alberta Ride for Sight drives in $139,000 for eye research.
The entire weekend was filled with entertainment including The Mike Clark Band with special guest Johnny V, and performances from The Flat Track Racing Association racers, the Canadian Chaos Freestyle Stunt Team and The Calgary Safety Council, which conducted a mini safety seminar. Attendees also participated in a Show N Shine, bike games, observation run and a motorcycle parade through the town of Olds.
One hundred per cent of the proceeds go towards The Foundation Fighting Blindness, the largest contributor to eye research in Canada, which funds researchers at the University of Calgary, University of Alberta and the University of Lethbridge.
At the event, Alberta Ride for Sight organizers presented a cheque to Dr. Bill Stell and Jean Peloquin from the University of Calgary from Ride for Sight and The Foundation Fighting Blindness.
Even though the Alberta Ride for Sight raised a whopping $139,000 – fundraising continues. The initial goal set for the 25th anniversary Ride was $150,000.00. Until that goal is reached, please continue to fundraise online at www.rideforsight.com or mail in donations, c/o Ride for Sight to The Foundation Fighting Blindness, 890 Yonge St., 12th Floor, Toronto, ON, M4W 3P4. 2007 Ride for Sight fundraising deadline is Oct. 31st. Thank YOU! Congratulations to Tim Taylor on winning a Trip for 2 to Daytona Bike Week in 2008! Everyone who raised $1000.00 or more in donations was automatically entered to win the trip! MMM
