Panheads are a life-long passion for Chris Pappageorgiou. His first bike was a 1963 panhead. “I rode it around my yard for about 6 hours before I had the jam to take it out on the road” That was more than 37 Panheads and 32 years ago. “So, you can see that I have a love for the old Harley-Davidsons. To me they are the epitome of what motorcycling is all about”.
Fast-forward to today and 3Legged Enterprises (custompanheads.com), a company owned by Pappageorgiou, designs and builds custom panheads and choppers. Currently, Pappageorgiou has a full time job but he finds the time to build 2-3 custom panheads a year from his small shop in Strathmore (about half an hour from Calgary), Alberta. With a larger shop and showroom currently under construction in Nova Scotia, he is looking forward to the day when he can do what he loves full time.
Pappageorgiou describes his bikes, “All of our Panheads and choppers are built from the ground up. We strive to use as many stock parts including frames and transmissions as possible. Our motors are stock Harley-Davidsons so they have matching-number cases. We have them completely rebuilt by Underground Performance (undergroundheads.com) in Strathmore.”
Pappageorgiou continued, “We ride what we build. They start with one to two kicks and can hold their own on any run. Each bike is an original design and attracts attention whether in a parking lot or at a bike show.”
Pappageorgiou starts to visualize the design, color & specifications long before the actual building starts. He can also work with a customer to create the bike of their dreams. Cost will vary according to how many stock parts a client wants.
Pappageorgiou’s custom panheads are about the building of an old school bike with today’s designs and technology.
And in case you were wondering, the company name, 3Legged Enterprises, and logo are in honour of a three-legged black lab named Rory.
