ONTARIO, CANADA

Rod and Tod beside their Custom Motorcycles Summer is a time for the best things in life, whether it be touring down a twisty strip of fresh blacktop on your favourite two-wheeled machine or just kicking back at the cottage. John MacNeill has the best of both worlds, a cottage in northern Ontario and a great bike to get him there. When John was looking for a bike, he didn’t want a stock bike but he did have some definite requirements and knew that Brad and Colleen Haskins and Steven Csanyi from CCM Canadian Custom Motorcycles Ltd (CCM) in Delhi, Ontario were up to the task.

“John wanted to be able to pack up and hit the road with all his stuff, and to make the distance to his cottage on one tank of gas,” Brad explains. “So we built him a custom bagger aptly named Bag ‘N’ It and the fuel tank is a Custom CCM eight-gallon tank.”

John has a deep love for the 48 Indian Chief and wanted his bike to have a similar look and style. Brad and his build team retained the classic styling of the Indian Chief, but built it using modern, up-to-date technology. “The front end was done by the crew at Mean Street especially for this bike. They are largest inverted forks made to date,” Brad said.

When it came time to dress up the bike in a paint job to match its classic lines, Roger Pouw at Extreme Measures Kustom Paint was called in. Using the original cream colour from the Indian and a custom Green paint made by Roger, the bike truly has the classic Indian look. “We had planned for the copper trim to match all the copper lines used on the bike as well as the seat. The Indian Head on the tank is from a totem pole that Roger came up with. He always nails the vision.”

When all was said and done, the classic styling of the bike scored the fifth place spot at the 2007 Canadian Biker Build-Off as well as best Chrome. Not too shabby for a bike built to run to the cottage.
