Harley-Davidson Offers Waterproof Relief
Harley-Davidson boots are well known for their comfort and durability but their newest boot styles called Relief and Reprieve take comfort to an impressive new level thanks to the ShockAbsorbers Twin Pads® Technology. The new dual-density polyurethane insole, the official term for the full-length soft rubber insole, is about 6 mm (0.25 in) thick at the heel providing comfort all day by absorbing any shock normally experienced while walking. Not only does the soft inner foot bed provide shock-absorbing qualities, the heel and the ball of the foot areas on the sole are also independently sprung for added superior comfort with every step. The result is akin to walking on air.
Originally designed for people that require orthotics in their shoes, the soft rubber insole removes easily to allow the insertion of specially made orthotics and therefore offers the user proper over-the-ankle protection in a comfortable riding boot. I spoke with someone who uses the boot to its full advantage by inserting custom-made orthotics and they feel it is just what they needed in a riding boot.
The new Relief and Reprieve boots also claim to be waterproof and I can attest to that. The outer boot is leather but the Relief and Reprieve boots utilizes a Gore-Tex interior that allows your feet to breathe but won’t let water in. They also have a full-length tongue so water can’t seep in there either. While I was riding in Northern British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska earlier this summer, I rode in the rain or mud many times but one particular rain lasted for about three hours followed by snow, and thankfully my feet stayed completely dry.
The Relief and Reprieve boots have a lace up front to adjust for fit but you then use the covered side zipper for opening and closing making them quick and easy to get on and off.
The oil resistant sole offers great grip on asphalt or cement and features Goodyear welt construction.
The Relief boot has 6-inch high uppers and retail for $280.
While the Relief is only available for men, the Reprieve model has 8-inch uppers and is available for both men and women and retails for $290. Both styles are available anywhere Harley-Davidson footwear is sold. MMM
