Avon Celebrates its First Century

February 2 2011

English manufacturer Avon Tyres will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year with a number of special events and by the completion of a custom-built motorcycle designed to mark the occasion.

From the company’s humble origin as a rubber goods manufacturer in 1885, Avon expanded their production to include motorcycle tires in 1911. The company continued to diversify over the years and currently has tires designed for every genre of motorcycle. Included in that range are high-performance racing tires that have as their heritage being the selection of legend racers such as Geoff Duke, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Barry Sheene, and Canada’s own, Mike Duff.

For more information on Avon Tyres, including their anniversary events and full product offering, you can peruse their website at www.avonmoto.com – but please, save us at least one piece of the birthday cake.
