The self-described Leader of the Three World now has even more to boast about. A recent series of runs by Bill Chambers at the Bonneville Salt Flats has resulted in a new speed record for Lehman Trikes.
Californian Chambers rode a specially prepared Lehman Renegade and managed to reach a top speed of 198.6 km/h (123.4 mph). However, records are established by averaging the times of two certified passes over the course, which for the Lehman Trike resulted in a speed of 195.8 km/h (121.7 mph) and a new international record for three wheeled motorcycles.
We think the tricked-out race trike looks extremely cool. It features Lehman’s corporate red, white and black colours and uses an unmodified Renegade conversion kit. The custom built V-twin engine was supplied by Aces and Eights Racing, a developmental engine manufacturer located in Deadwood, South Dakota.
Chambers was quoted as saying, “this was one of the greatest highlights of my racing career, the Lehman Trike design is amazing in its stability and handling. I look forward to returning to the Salt Flats next year and bettering the international record.” Ken Hines, Lehman’s President and CEO, added, “it is important to note that this record was attained using an unmodified Renegade conversion kit. This product is exactly what our customers purchase from their Lehman Trikes Dealer.”
