Unveiled for the first time at the recent EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Italy, Ducati has confirmed that their new 1199 Panigale superbike will also showcase the manufacturer’s display during the upcoming Canadian motorcycle show season.
The Panigale was voted by EICMA show visitors to be the “Most Beautiful Bike of Show”, which not only helped Ducati to celebrate the introduction of their new flagship machine, but their achievements during 2011 as well. According to the Italian manufacturer, 2011 marked the best financial year in the company’s history.
Designed and built in Borgo Panigale, Bologna, Ducati’s latest superbike is claimed to be the most high-tech and powerful twin-cylinder production motorcycle on the planet. Wrapped in a radical monocoque frame, the Panigale is said to produce 195 hp, which combined with the machine’s 164 kg (362 lb) chassis is claimed to give it the highest power- and torque-to-weight ratios of any production motorcycle.
Backing its high-tech credentials, the Panigale is loaded with numerous leading-edge technologies. A sports ABS system, DucatiTraction Control (DTC), Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES), Ducati Quick-Shift (DQS), a race-derived Engine Brake Control (EBC) and a Ride-by-Wire (RbW) system are all programmed to work in unison and provide a comprehensive rider assistance package.
Three variations of the 1199 Panigale will be available early in 2012: the base 1199 Panigale, Panigale S and ultra-premium Panigale S Tricolore. The Tricolore livery is washed in the red, white and green colours of the Italian flag to highlight its “Made in Italy” status and celebrate the 150th anniversary of the country’s unification.
