A Brutal Brutale
MV Agusta Canada has provided us with the details of the latest addition to its 2012 line-up. Joining the other MV Agusta models being imported into Canada is the Brutale RR 1090, which is already being touted as a motorcycle with the performance and handling that will make all other naked bikes pale in comparison.
The new model, described by its Canadian distributor as a motorcycle with “maximum performance without compromise,” is said to be the most important addition to the Brutale 2012 line-up. The RR variant comes fitted with a 1,078 cc four-cylinder engine that uses radial intake and exhaust valves along with new camshafts, intake tracts, and throttle bodies to help it produce 116.5 kW (156 hp), the highest power output of any Brutale model.
Other amendments made to the base Brutale to create the RR version include a slipper clutch, updated engine mapping, and a traction control system that is adjustable to 8 levels of intervention.
The chassis of the stripped-down superbike consists of an ultra-light chromium-molybdenum steel tube frame that is hand welded and offers adjustable steering geometry. Suspension duties are handled at the front by a Marzocchi 50 mm inverted DLC-coated fork, which has dedicated valving for the Brutale RR 1090. The rear uses a Sachs single shock that provides high and low speed compression adjustment along with those for rebound damping and spring pre-load.
The high-spec Brutale is fitted with Brembo monobloc brake calipers and 320mm rotors to slow its forged aluminum front wheel, which is claimed to weigh 1 kg less than a standard cast wheel.
Illuminating the bike’s path is a projector beam headlight with incorporated LED lights. LEDs are also used for the turn signals; the front turn signals are built into the motorcycle’s rear-view mirrors.
Three colour combinations of the exotic $19,995 motorcycle will be made available in Canada: America,
Red and Silver, and Matte Magno Grey and Matte Black. We’ve been told that Brutale RR 1090 can already be obtained from authorized MV Agusta (mvagustacanada.com) dealerships across Canada.
