Indian Motorcycle announced U.S. pricing of the upcoming 2014 Indian Chief before even releasing images of the bike.

Purchased in 2011 by powersports conglomerate Polaris Industries, Indian Motorcycles will be soon be introducing the first motorcycle designed under the new ownership.

The new bike will be the 2014 Indian Chief, and U.S. pricing is set at $18,999, somewhat more expensive than the 2013 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Deluxe, which retails in the U.S. for $17,399.

In March of this year, during Daytona Bike Week, the American company revealed the all-new Thunder Stroke 111 engine.

The 1,811 cc, 49-degree V-twin is styled to mimic the flathead Indian V-twins of the 1940s and 1950s, yet features modern technologies like fuel injection and a six-speed transmission. The new engine will be at the heart of the 2014 Chief.

The new Chief will be officially unveiled at another biker gathering, this time at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, August 3 to 11. The exact date of the unveiling will be announced this summer.
