For the past few years within the motorcycle world there has been an emerging trend of multifunctional motorcycles. Bikes like BMW’s R1200GS remain dirt-oriented at heart but its large power plant, upright seating position and forgiving suspension has made it a popular pick for urban riders as well. Further improving on-road characteristics, motorcycles such as Triumph’s Tiger Explorer are more recent additions to the industry and come equipped with street tires and aluminum rims rather than spoked wheels.

1 Turismo-Veloce_rossa-3-4-ant-2LItalian manufacturer MV Agusta has announced their entry into this segment of street-focused upright touring motorcycles in the form of the 2014 Turismo Veloce 800, which translates literally to Fast Tourer. Also available is the Tourismo Veloce Lusso, which is essentially the deluxe version.

Powering the bike is a 783 cc, 12-valve, 3-cylinder engine producing a claimed 125 hp at 11,600 rpm cradled in a tubular trellis frame. The front suspension is handled by upside down Marzocchi forks while a single Sachs shock is in the rear, and Brembo brakes on both ends decelerate the new MV.

The Lusso is sprinkled with accessories and trinkets including a 13 cm information display panel, panniers, unique chassis stability control and anti-wheelie control.

A short teaser video was released on the company’s official YouTube channel that depicts beautiful roads and a few of the bike’s feature, and additional technical data and photos are listed on the brands Italian webpage.

It isn’t yet clear if the Turismo Veloce will be coming to Canada but we sure hope to see it sometime in 2014.
