Harley-Davidson announced an all-new platform for the global market, which includes Canada.

Harley Street Production ShootHarley revealed two new bikes at EICMA, both in smaller, more accessible engine displacements than the models currently available in the American bike maker’s line up.

The new bikes will come in 500 and 750 cc variations, and they feature updated yet easily recognizable styling. At the heart of the new bikes is the liquid-cooled Revolution X engine. The 60-degree V-twin comes in 494 cc and 749 cc versions, has a six-speed transmission and belt final drive.

Chassis specs are identical for both machines, with a 1,510 mm (59.5 in.) wheelbase, a 17-inch front and 15-inch rear wheel, and a claimed wet weight of 217 kilos (480 lb), which is about 38 kg lighter than a Sportster SuperLow.

Styling has been kept minimalist, with blackout trim everywhere, an attractive two-into-one exhaust, classic fork gaiters and a headlight fairing reminiscent of Harley’s XLCR café racer of the late 1970s.

Footpegs are mid-mounted for comfort. Harley didn’t skimp on details and bodywork is made of metal. Disc brakes use single-piston calipers.

Canadian pricing has not been released yet, but U.S. pricing is $6,700 for the Street 500 and $7,500 for the Street 750. By comparison, the Sportster SuperLow retails for $9,489 U.S.
