Atlanticade is Coming Home to Stay

ATLANTICADE RETURNS TO MONCTON. The ATLANTICADE Motorcycle Festival is coming back home to stay. After a recent three year stint in Summerside, PE preceded by two years in St. Andrews, NB the five day event will be returning to Moncton where it was founded back in 2007. The 9th annual edition of the festival is set for July 1st to 5th in downtown Moncton where participants will benefit from activities associated with Canada Day and the newest event on the hub city calendar, Ribfest which runs from July 3rd to 5th. Ribfest, which is organized by the Moncton West-Riveview Rotary Club, was a huge success when held for the first time this past summer in Moncton. The event features a number of top professional ribbers along with live entertainment over the course of the weekend.

WHOA Canada celebrations in Moncton have been growing as well over the past few years with thousands of residents taking in the live entertainment, fireworks, and other activities on the July 1 holiday. “Being able to expose our participants to these two events was a key factor in deciding to return the motorcycle festival to Moncton” says founder and chairman Dale Hicks. “In discussions with both City officials and Ribfest organizers it soon became apparent this was an excellent match for all parties. It should make for five exciting days in Moncton”.

Hicks says that participants were pushing organizers to find a permanent home moving forward, a suggestion that was shared by the organizing committee. He says the committee held discussions with Summerside and Bathurst but that it was clear Moncton was the logical choice. In addition greater Moncton is home to five motorcycle dealerships that represent no less than 13 bike brands so that was an additional incentive added Hicks. “We spoke to all five dealerships and they expressed their interest in supporting the festival if it returned to Moncton. So in the end the decision became very clear”.
