BMW Scrambler “Concept Path 22”
BMW Unveils another “Concept”…
The Wheels and Waves Festival in Biarritz, France was chosen by BMW for the launch of yet another high profile prototype that has all the makings of a production bike to be.
The Concept Path 22 is based on the R nineT, and is BMW’s take on the scrambler theme featuring high pipes, knobby tires and upright bars. Showcased here with a custom paint job by artist, Ornamental Conifer (Nicolai Sclater) and carrying custom shaped surf boards from Dyer Brand in a one-off billet carrier, the theme represents the ethos of the Southsiders MC organized festival, which has grown exponentially over the last four years.
The name of this styling exercise is inspired by a path that is used by local surfers to access one of southern France’s premier locals. A sign bearing the number 22 marks the beginning of a half-hour walk through one of Europe’s largest pine forests en-route to the Atlantic coast.
We would not be the least bit surprised to see a production version of this motorcycle made available for 2016, with BMW officials having repeatedly stated that the concepts they present are an indication of the companies future plans. Given the R nineT is their best seller and an incredible demand for scrambler styling at the moment, it would seem a no brainer for BMW.
