Zero Motorcycles is rolling out a couple of new models and upgrades for 2016.

New for 2016, the DSR takes the powertrain of the company’s SR model and stuffs it into their dualsport bike, giving it 56% more torque and 25% more power than the current DS. In real world terms, that works out to 103 ft-lbs of torque and 67 hp at 4000 rpm in a bike that weighs 419 lbs, ready to ride. On top of that, the software and motor have been upgraded to increase range and power while reducing charging time and heat buildup. With the addition of the optional Power Tank battery pack, the company claims a range of up to 288 km.

The second new model from Zero is the FXS, a Supermoto variant of the FX model. It weighs in at under 300 lbs and produces 44 hp and 70 ft-lbs of torque. As a long time fan of supermotos, the new FXS ranks way up there on my person list of ‘must try bikes’ for 2016; It’s low weight, instant torque and silent delivery make it the perfect urban assault tool.

This takes the Zero line up to a total of six models, and with the recent upgrades in components and powertrains, they’re clearly leading the way in terms of the practical electric motorcycle. Visit www.zeromotorcycles.com/ca/motorcycles for details on all of the Zero products.
