Honda and Hitachi to Join Forces On EV Project
Japanese production giants Honda Motor Co. and Hitachi Automotive Systems have announced plans to form a joint venture aimed at producing motors for future electric vehicles.
Honda has been dipping its toes into the EV segment for some time now, but with this move, it would appear they’re now wading into the pond.
We don’t have a name for this new project as yet but we do know it will be located in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture. This new entity will also have divisions in both the United States and China.
An initial investment of US$44 million, should, when combined with the might of these two industrial powers, yield some very interesting results in the near future. We’re certainly pulling for a proper two-wheeled offering from Big Red, though the first area of focus will most likely be in the 4-wheeled realm.
