Royal Enfield recently debuted it’s first new engine since the Roosevelt administration. The 648 cc Parallel-Twin finds its way into both the new Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, two beautifully styled retro-rides that hope to offer value, simplicity and (most importantly,) reliability.

The new fuel-injected twin delivers 47 hp and 38 ft-lb of torque – modest numbers by today’s standards but then again, these bikes are meant to make you feel nostalgic not break any land speed records. Both bikes use the same steel tubular, double cradle frame and basic running gear, with the Continental GT sporting clip-ons and a solo-seat. Tipping the scale around 200 kg dry, these are no lightweights, although, some of that heft should translate to stability on the road.

Enfield has two very handsome new bikes on their hands and we’re looking forward to having a go on them as soon as the snow melts, but in the meantime, we’ll just have to settle for a few more pics and another daydream.
