With Western Canada and the Canadian Rockies as a favourite riding destination for many motorcyclists, Calgary Harley-Davidson have organized Rally in the Rockies, showcasing local motorcycle shops, groups, and many other local businesses.

The event is scheduled to occur between August 7 and 15th.  This is the same week of the famous motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year and attracting hundreds of thousands of riders in past years.  Due to the border closure and a cautious approach to travel this year, Canadians will be spending their summer vacations in their home country.

Eric Sum, General Manager at Calgary Harley-Davidson® commented, “Many Canadian riders booked their vacation time off work with plans to go to Sturgis.  We hope they will explore our beautiful Rocky Mountains instead.”  Rally organizers are expecting motorcyclists from across Canada to ride, trailer, ship, or rent a motorcycle to participate in the wonderful riding in western Canada.

Motorcycling provides an excellent way to physically distance from others.  The rally will occur in multiple locations throughout Alberta and British Columbia allowing for smaller groups to adhere to provincial health guidelines for outdoor gatherings.

A calendar of events is listed on the rally website. These events include guided rides by charity groups.  Self-drive routes from one to seven days for riders looking to venture out on their own are available.  Links for motorcycle-friendly accommodations, food and drink establishments are also provided. You can go to their website here.
